A three-semester course based upon the book of the same title by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche exploring the core teachings of Buddhism—the four noble truths, karma, the four foundations of mindfulness, meditation practice, the refuge vows, the three jewels, the five skandhas, the five precepts, ego and egolessness, and the practice of meditation. This first semester will focus on the reality of suffering, the nature of mind, ego, and the possibility of liberation through discipline, meditation and wisdom. Throughout, the emphasis is on personal development through meditative discipline and study.

Participation in this course requires completion of our Foundation Course, The Way of the Buddha, or an equivalent experience with Buddhist practice and study. For this intermediate-level course, enrollment is by semester and requires a commitment to attend all or most class sessions.
