In this first segment of the exploration of the higher tantra systems of Buddhist tantra, Trungpa Rinpoche delves first into the fundamental characteristics of the Anuttarayoga Yana, the highest yoga tantra in the systems of the so-called New Translation schools of Kagyu, Sakya, and Geluk. The first half focuses on the view of this yana, the essential requirement of devotion, the role of the samaya, the various divisions of this yana, and the ways it is manifested. The second half is a deep dive into the ground, path, and fruition of mahamudra in the form of Rinpoche’s commentary on the famous Song of Lodrö Thaye (i.e., Jamgon Kongtrul the Great).

Looking ahead, the next two segments in this series will be Rinpoche’s presentation of the higher tantras of the Dzogchen tradition, including the Mayayoga and Anuyoga Tantras in the Winter of 2027 and the Atiyoga Tantras in the Spring of 2027.

We are thrilled to have Special Guest Gaylon Ferguson joining us for all three segments!

Participation in this course requires the commitment to study the first two-thirds of The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma, Volume Three: The Tantric Path of Indestructible Wakefulness, within one year of finishing this series.
