Exploring Vajrayana, Part One: The Path of Natural Wakefulness
WMC Advanced Mahayana Path Course*
Tuesdays 7 – 9 PM
September 15th – December 15, 2026
Led by Gene Bobker, David Frankel, Emily Lee
Suggested offering: $180
We are very pleased to be able to offer students the opportunity to explore the culmination of the Tibetan Buddhist path: the "indestructible vehicle" known as the Vajrayana. This rounds out the WMC curriculum covering the preceding two yanas (vehicles), the Hinayana and Mahayana, completing our presentation of the entire path of meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and expertly transmitted to the West by Chogyam Trungpa, one of the greatest Tibetan masters of our time.
This year-long course is meant to provide interested students with a clear understanding of Buddhist Vajrayana so they can make a fully-informed decision about whether they want to enter into actual practice and study of the "diamond" path.
In Part One, the first of three semesters, we will explore the essence of the Vajrayana view and path, including vajra nature, non-theistic devotion, the evolution of the teacher-student relationship, and the nature of the transmission which formally enters one into Vajrayana practice.
Readings from a wide variety of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings have been assembled into a sourcebook, which will be made available prior to the first class. Each class will begin with 30 minutes of meditation, followed by a talk and discussion. As with our other Advanced offerings, there are prerequisites for attending.. This course will be led by Gene Bobker, David Frankel, and Emily Lee. If you have any questions about attending this course, please email gene@westchestermeditationcenter.org
Audio recordings of the classes will be made available for those who may miss a class or want to review.
*Prerequisites for the course include our Foundation course, The Way of the Buddha, as well as the Intermediate Profound Treasury courses (covering Volumes One and Two), or an equivalent level of study and practice. If you are unsure whether you qualify, please plan to attend but contact gene@westchestermeditationcenter.org
