BUDDHISM: VIEW AND PATH

WMC students have been cordially invited to drop in on these special final meetings of this course, without registering. (Description of the course)

• On August 1 and 8, Judy Lief will teach the last two Mahayana classes on how lojong can permeate our entire lives and on the six paramitas that show us how to actually be a bodhisattva. 

•On August 15, the Dorje Loppon Lodro Dorje will introduce course participants to the Vajrayana and will give the refuge and bodhisattva vows.

Judy Lief  edited many of Trungpa Rinpoche’s books, including most of the readings for this course. She served as Executive Director of Vajradhatu Publications, Dean of Naropa University, and Head of Practice and Study at Trungpa Rinpoche’s three-month, three-yana seminaries. Judy is the author of Making Friends with Death: A Buddhist Guide to Encountering Mortality, is head teacher of the annual Profound Treasury Retreats, and teaches worldwide on the relevance of Buddhist teachings and practices today.

In 1976, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche appointed Lodro Dorje as head of his Office of Three Yana Studies to facilitate students’ practice and study of the Shravakayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana paths. In 1985, Trungpa Rinpoche also designated him Dorje Loppon and empowered him to give ngöndro and Vajrayana transmissions. Lodro was also a founding member of the Nalanda Translation Committee where he worked directly with Trungpa Rinpoche on both Buddhist and Shambhala texts.
