Why Meditate?

Challenges and change happen to all of us during our lives. While life brings us joy and community, it can also bring us difficulty and struggle. Meditation doesn’t promise to be the answer to all of our problems, but it can help us greet life’s obstacles with a sense of stability and confidence.

Meditation shows us how to work with our minds when we can’t control what’s going on around us, and it connects us with others who experience the same feelings and difficulties we have faced ourselves. Through meditation, we develop friendliness and humor toward ourselves, our lives, and the world around us.

In this course, we will discuss meditation techniques, developing and strengthening our individual home practice, learning what is meant by “mindfulness" and awareness,” and how to grow into and celebrate a lifelong practice of meditation.
